Today John had some steamed carrot sticks, fresh pears, and steamed pears. The pears were Bartletts and were REALLY YUMMY. I don't generally like pears, but these were good enough I had to stop myself from taking food from my baby!
While John was eating his carrots and pears, I had some yummy carrot-ginger soup simmering on the stove... carrots, fresh ginger, powdered ginger, garlic (lots!), garlic powder, onion, black pepper, crushed red pepper, and chicken broth. YUM. I thought that I'd share some with John once it was cooked and pureed.
Well, I let him have a taste of the soup as soon as it was finished and he loved it! I'd "load" the spoon up, hand it to him and he'd put it in his mouth and cry when it was gone! The soup was even a bit spicy, but since he liked it, I kept feeding it to him. Hopefully he'll like lots of different foods as he grows up. So far, it is a good start.
